Installing MenuMagic on Windows Vista

Vista Logo Good news everybody. You can now safely install and run MenuMagic on Windows Vista. We have come up with a successful work around procedure that circumvents Vista's need to silently and without warning move critical files to hidden directories.

The following procedure will detail how to install MenuMagic to a folder different from the default directory listed during the installation process. Basically, Vista has some hidden security features to anything that is put in their "Program Files" folder. As long as MenuMagic is installed to a folder outside this folder, the dissapearing data file trick that Vista liked to play with MenuMagic will not occur.

With this in mind, we would still recommend not using Vista. It's interface can be confusing and slow. It's security interface can be called annoying at best. If you are in the market for a new computer, remember you always have choices. Many large computer retailers (such as Dell) offer the option to install Window XP Pro on certain models. Also, some local computer stores in your area may be able to "downgrade" you computer to XP for a nominal. Remember - you always have choices.
